Australian Cameron Percy moved within range of a FedEx Cup finals berth at the US PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic today.

Only a bogey up the last prevented the Victorian from his second top-10 finish in a promising campaign that once looked threatened by a back injury.

The Melburnian capped a superbly consistent week in Illinois with a 67 to add to his earlier rounds of 69-69-66 to finish at 13 under, just five behind champion Bryson DeChambeau who carded his second 65 in three days to roar home for his win on the main American tour.

The share of 12th moved Percy up 12 spots on the FedEx Cup rankings to No.135 with the top 125 guaranteed of a full card next season and access to the season-ending finals.

In a good week for the Aussie veterans, dual Australian Open champion Greg Chalmers also carded four rounds in the 60s to finish at -11, alongside Stuart Appleby in T25.

Appleby had shot into contention with a third-round 64, but closed with 70 today to record easily his best finish of a tough season to date.
